Thru a mutual
friend I was introduced to Mr. Gustavo
Envela. Other
credits to Mr. Envela include his being a Graduate of
Stanford University, Olympic Track Runner and
politically very active. Mr. Envela stated that a new
government was being formed in his country of
Equatorial Guinea. The new regime wanted to encourage
education. They wanted to build an art museum and
were very interested in our painting.
In time arrangements were made to show the painting.
Our special police were
called and the painting was removed and transported to
the Beligo Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas. Mr. Envela and
his expert viewed the
painting. It was agreed that Mr. Envela acting for
Equatorial Guiana, would purchase the painting at
half it’s value for the
amount of $60 million dollars.
As time went on Mr. Envela informed me that a coop was
to have happened but it had not and it would be some
time before we could conclude this transaction. Some
time later I did learn of such a coop via the news.
Here is that article.
